Company Introduction

The Harb Group of today consists of different companies owned by Mr. Harb Senior and Mr. Harb Junior. The origin of the group lies in 1978 when Mr. Harb Senior founded the Harb Export GmbH in Bonn, Germany. Harb Export started business exporting industrial machinery from Europe to Middle East. Soon Mr. Harb, always looking for new markets, and opportunities, enlarged his activities and began to import fresh potatoes from Egypt to Europe. Thus, Harb Export was the first company selling Egyptian potatoes in Germany and neigbour countries. Today Egypt is the main supplier of potatoes in Europe during winter and spring. In the following years Harb Export focused as well on beef meat business and became one of the biggest suppliers of Irish and German beef meat to Egypt and the Middle East. Furthermore, the foundation of the company Continetal International Trading in Egypt enabled and supported Harb Export to become the biggest importer of lifestock and breading cattle in Egypt. In the same time the company Protein Stars a Network of retailers, started to sell all kinds of beef meat products to the own shops as well for the supermarkets. In the year 2000 the BSE crisis made it necessary to look for non-european sources of beef meat and life cattle, which were found in Brazil and Argentine for meat and in Australia for life cattle. Nowadays beef meat can be delivered from Europe and South America and lifecattle from Europe and Australia. Customers of the Harb Group are to be found world wide, as for example in Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Greece,... In 2003, during a global expansion campaign, all companies owned by the Harb Group family were united and included in one group: The Harb Group with headquarter and administration in Germany. An new office has been founded in Brazil to organize and supervise the meat production in South America through an excellent stuff. Furthermore, in 2003 we started a successfull poultry business what we hope to become a strong activity in future.
